Double Eye of Horus Wedjat Visionary Symbol

The Eye of Horus is an Ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, power, healing and safety. The Double Eye of Horus was often painted on the sides of coffins so the mummy could see out, on the sides of ships to see the way ahead, and on tomb walls to oversee the mummy’s journey to the afterlife.

It is said that the Two Eyes represent Sun and Moon, Masculine and Feminine. Horus was the Falcon-headed god, son of Osiris, protector of the Pharaoh. The Wadjet or Udjat Eye was an important, powerful, and very common sacred symbol of good luck and prosperity, often found on monuments and temples of Kemet. Amulets of The Eye were worn as jewelry in daily life, and wrapped with mummies to protect them from evil spirits as they made their way through the underworld to the afterlife.

This design features an aged and distressed Double Eye Hieroglyph, in Black and Egyptian Red Ochre, Egyptian Faience Turquoise Blue and Egyptian Red Earth, or Osiris Green and Red Earth.  Inspired by painted decorations in the New Kingdom tombs of Egypt. The aging allows the background shirt color to show through in spots, giving the design the feeling of authentic vintage hieroglyphic inscriptions as seen today in Egypt.

The hieroglyphics in our designs were created with respect for the culture, aesthetics, colors, and artistry of the Ancient Egyptians, carefully researched to ensure their historical accuracy and authenticity. Wear with pride and expect good fortune!
